Algeria: Don’t Silence Families of the Disappeared Calling for the Truth

disparus.jpgAmnesty International, the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Network (EMHRN) and the Observatory for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders (a joint programme of the International Federation for Human Rights – FIDH – and the World Organisation Against Torture – OMCT), deplore the Algerian authorities’ attempts to silence families of victims of enforced disappearance by violently breaking-up their last two weekly peaceful protests.

The organizations call on the authorities to allow families of victims of enforced disappearance to hold peaceful protests without fear of reprisals, and to respond to their legitimate demands for truth, justice and adequate reparation.

The president of Algeria Abdelaziz Bouteflika has only one choice towards what happened throughout the civil war in and also the only one; that’s to protect those who committed crimes against the Algerian people.
every one of us believes that abdelaziz Bouteflika has been accepted by the generals in condition that he must assure and protect theme for their crimes and genocides, and no one should go or stand in any tribunal; in Algeria, at the Hague or at the International criminal court for crime against humanity or what ever.
When we emphasise on this matter we could notice that every single step of the President is according to what the generals have been dictated on him , since the civil concord of 1977 to the reconciliation of 2005 in which he wanted to corrupt theme by money.
It is clear that the deciders have no will to resolve the drama of the kidnappings and forced disappearances for a simple raison that they are implicated in these carnages.
The families of the disappeared still not have the right even to ask peacefully for their missing sons or husbands who have been kidnapped by the authorities. “We call it: frozen tragedy or black files.” the day will come and the truth will come out and the criminals will be jugged.
So No matter what the authorities are, these families should not give up; and fight peacefully and stand steady against the brutality of this system to cover up his malicious.
